Residenza IDRA-Independent DRAma
Residence I.DRA-Independent DRAma is a place an idea and a way of producing, organizing and promoting theatre. It has a basic aim: communicate the private and social “human experience”. We work for a theatre who dare to dissolve its forms, to become “transparent”.The Hydra is the mythological animal with seven heads, each of one, if cut, regenerate and triple. This is an image which perfectly fit to our project. As matter of fact I.DRA is a multidisciplinary Residence where different heads try to combine their ideas to find always new way of creation in the name of independent production culture. The strength of will with which the Animal regenerate is the same strength we have in order to promote innovation and research. In our vision Hydra is not a monster but a challenge to modern world where integration and collaboration are key words to built up a sustainable society.
We have two areas of interest: production of different companies (the resident one is Teatro Inverso) and organization of events in comprehensive on coherent project. As a matter of fact, I.DRA has participated to several national prices and national and international festivals. It produces every year at least two new performances, which regularly tour in Italy and abroad, directed by national and international directors (Davide D’Antonio, Heidrun Kaletsch, Francois Khan and young budding artists…).
Moreover IDRA has tried to develop a new methods of organizing theatre in order to avoid the “impasse” of the Italian bureaucratic theatre system, working basically on projects and cooperating with different institutions. By now Teatro inverso has developed more then 18 projects in close relationship with Brescia, Milan, Cremona, Lecco Municipality, Province of Brescia, Lombardia Region with the State Department of Social Affair, Ministry of Work, ASM Foundation, National Trusts, Schools of arts, European Community (we won the application in the line of the Program Culture 2007 in 2008 with Thalassia of myths), and the support of Cariplo Foundation (main sponsor 2008-2010).
Teatro Inverso is the resident company working in I.DRA, founded in 1997 on the base of a previus project called Zentrifugaprogetti. Since this year its activities have been increasingly developed with a lot of cooperations with International, National and Regional Theatres, and Isitutional State Organizations.
Four projects are regularly carried out every year:
1. Prospective: a project of production, coproduction and hospitality of the best italian and international shows of the year
2. Festival Fairytales and Contamination: an international festival of new forms for performing arts
3. Urgenze: a public competition to promote new dramaturgy in Italy
4. ITM-Permanent Workshop of arts: an innovative theatre school in Brescia
